416 Fiberglass Shell Chair by Wim Rietveld & Andre Cordemeyer for Gispen, 1950s

Minimalistic Dutch pride design- no. 416 model lounge/ armchair designed by Wim Rietveld (son of Gerrit Thomas Rietveld) and Andre Cordemeyer for Gispen, Culemborg, 1957. This first Dutch polyester armchair was made of on piece of molded polyester, a new technique for the Dutch furniture making market. This experimental chair was a success and the start of something beautiful. The seat is supported by a tubular solid metal frame with rubber shock mounts. This chairs have an amazing light grey color with visible fibers and are in very nice authentic condition. These chairs are extremely hard to find. Original condition.
