System 123 Chairs by Verner Panton for Fritz Hansen, 1973, Set of 4
This set of six model system 123 chairs was designed by Verner Panton (Denmark, 1926-1998). They are covered with a red zippered original wool fabric from Kvadrat. The chromed tubular feet are in a butterfly winged shape, unusual for this model. They were produced in 1973 by Fritz Hansen. Panton’s vision was of “furniture that grows up out of the floor – he wanted to turn the furniture into something organic and without the traditional four legs.” He spent three years designing this chair which was originally available in 20 varieties. The chair’s name, 1-2-3, comes from this distinction of multiple options in both the cushioning and the seat’s function. There is both a dining and a lounge chair in this design as well as a variety of fabrics, colors and cushioning. We ship worldwide, do not hesitate to contact us.
